google reviews, missing reviews, review funnel system

Google Reviews are powerful, not only do they lend credibility to your business, but they have been proven to move customers through their buying journey.  For many businesses its very difficult to get your customers to leave reviews online, and many businesses have discovered that they are now missing Google Reviews.  Poof, they’re just gone, never to return.

Have you discovered that some of your google reviews are missing?

It’s unfortunate but true, it’s not a myth, some Google Reviews have disappeared!  So if you’re a business that has noticed this past year that your review count (the number of Google Reviews) has dropped, you’re not alone.  Across the globe businesses have started to notice that something has changed with their reviews.

Where’d my Google Reviews Go?

In the summer of 2019 Google, in an effort to further clean up old fake reviews enacted a new algorithm that was designed to clean-up these fake reviews.  Unfortunately, not only did it do a pretty good job of cleaning up these fake reviews, but it also accidentally removed other legitimate reviews.

Can I Get My Missing Google Reviews Back?

The chances of getting those legit reviews back is very slim.  History suggests that Google will not roll-back this algorithmic change as it has accomplished its goal of removing fake reviews, even though it inadvertently removed a small percentage of real reviews as well.  So, no, you probably won’t see them return, so you need to move on, get over it, and take proactive steps.

Step #1 – Save Reviews on Another Platform

This is time-consuming and tedious, but you can have a junior member of your team, or a Virtual Assistant do this on your behalf.  Every month have a team member copy your latest reviews over to a new platform, a Word document, your website, anywhere that you can retain them in case further Google Reviews go missing.

Step #2 – Be Proactive In Asking For Reviews From Customers

This is even more important than the previous step, you must, must, must be proactive in asking customers for reviews.  The statistics are staggering.  Only 6% of Satisfied Customers leave a review without prompting.  Yes, you heard that correctly – only 6%.  But over 90% of consumers value online reviews.  So you as a business owner owe it to yourself to be proactive in asking for reviews.
